Rumours are flying across the internet that VW will be introducing a new electric SUV – likely to be called Volkswagen I.D. Crozz. We look into all the speculation on the new model and details on what to expect to be revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
What we know about the I.D. Crozz so far
According to recent trademark registrations, the name I.D. Crozz has been noticed recently and is likely to be the name for a new VW crossover utility vehicle which is all electric. This is going to be part of the range of Volkswagen ID brand of electric vehicles focusing on long-distance electric car travel (potentially providing a range of between 250-350 miles). The design should be unique as there is an electric drivetrain which enables the car to have more space inside for passengers than traditional cars. Expect the I.D. Crozz to be a 4 seater model when it’s launched
What does the I.D. Crozz look like?
Many concepts have been imagined across the internet for the I.D. Crozz but we expect the familiar Golf design to be reimagined to make it look more streamlined and emphasise the fact the vehicle is electric. A futuristic look may be toned down to prevent the customers disliking the design of the new car but a good balance between modern, sleek aesthetics and classic VW design should be expected to set this I.D. range apart.
When is the I.D. Crozz likely to be released?
All reputable sources are indicating that the I.D. Crozz is expected to be launched in 2019 but more details are expected at the end of April when the car is anticipated to be announced at the Shanghai Motor Show.
How much will the I.D. Crozz cost?
Until the launch of the vehicle we can only speculate the cost of the I.D. Crozz at this moment in time. Most sources are expecting costs to be between and to rival the current range of VW Golf cars. As with new technology there will be a premium for the short term for these vehicles but no doubt that VW will have their competitors pricing in mind. They will likely want to rival Tesla with their Model 3 which is expected to be £35,000. We therefore would like to guess that prices could be anywhere between £30,000 – £40,000 depending on specifications.
Until the launch we can only speculate based on rumours so don’t take any of this information as fact just yet. We’ll keep you updated on more details once the car is launched.
