Car Servicing FAQs

Have questions about car servicing? Check out our frequently asked questions on the topic below. If you need further help, please call us on 01761 415 501.

What is the purpose of servicing my car?

Regular car servicing and maintenance is essential to ensure your car continues to function efficiently and reliably. Car servicing can also prevent costly breakdowns and prolong its lifespan. It also promotes safer driving by identifying and addressing potential safety issues before they become major problems. In summary, car servicing is critical to maintaining the optimal performance, safety, and longevity of your vehicle.

What could happen if I don't service my car?

Maintaining regular service checks on your car is crucial to ensure its optimal performance and longevity. Neglecting to carry out regular car servicing may result in unnoticed issues, which can lead to additional expenses for repairs and maintenance in the future. Moreover, the absence of a well-maintained service record can lower the resale value of your car, affecting the price that potential buyers are willing to pay when you decide to sell it. It is highly recommended to prioritise the upkeep of your car to ensure its reliability and efficiency in the long run.

How often should a car be serviced in the UK?

It is a widely acknowledged practice among car manufacturers to suggest a comprehensive car service on an annual basis or after every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. This maintenance practice helps ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your vehicle.

What is an interim service on a car?

An interim car service is slightly less comprehensive than a full service, and it is recommended to be conducted every 6 months or after driving 5,000-6,000 miles. It should not be considered a replacement for an annual service, but rather a beneficial measure to address any potential issues early on that may arise from exceeding the average mileage.
